Association Goals

  • Continue our support of the Aging Networks community-based senior services system through funding from the Older Americans Act, Nebraska Community Aging Services Act, Nebraska Care Management Act and the seeking of expanded resources and system enhancements.
  • Establish the Area Agency on Aging Network as the appropriate gatekeeper and care manager for long-term care in Nebraska.

Nebraskans Served by Area Agencies on Aging

State and Federal regulations confer service eligibility primarily to individuals over the age of 60. With limited funding, Nebraska Area Agencies on Aging target services to individuals at greatest risk for nursing home placement. Age, poverty status and living alone are three key predictors for nursing home placement. Individuals over age 85, individuals who live alone and/or individuals who are impoverished are at higher risk because they may be isolated or lack necessary supports. Nebraska Area Agencies on Aging want all older Nebraskans to remain adequately connected to community supports so that nursing home placement can be delayed for as long as it is safe to do so.
